Kirinki
We support the local people in the rural Rubanda district in western Uganda by developing education, sports and tourism.

Our mission

We support the local population in the Rubanda District in western Uganda in the areas of education, sports and sustainable tourism. Guided by the principle of 'helping people to help themselves', the association aims to strengthen education, community life, health services, and future opportunities, while also fostering job creation and economic development in a rural village near Lake Bunyonyi. Support is provided through targeted financial contributions to clearly defined projects and active involvement, including fundraising, connecting with partner organisations and offering expertise in development cooperation, planning and advisory services.

Education

Education is essential for a better future. By supporting the construction and operation of a school, we can provide children with an education and help them break free from the cycle of poverty. This creates opportunities for further education and employment.

Sports

Sport improves children’s health and teaches valuable life skills such as discipline, teamwork and fair play. Furthermore, sport can create opportunities, develop talent and open doors to education and future employment.

Tourism

By supporting Njojjo Tours, we are helping to promote tourism and raise awareness of the region. This creates job and income opportunities for the local community, which contributes to the area's sustainable development.

About us

How it started

The story began in 2019, when Olivier met Prosper during a vacation in Uganda. On their way to a breathtaking viewpoint, Prosper shared the reality faced by many families in rural Uganda: access to education remains a significant challenge, with even attending a public school often being out of reach for many children. Inspired by this conversation, Olivier started supporting Prosper by paying his school fees, enabling him to continue his education.

After completing his studies, Prosper set out to create change within his own community. He launched an ambitious project to build a school in Rutooma Village, with the vision of providing local children with access to a quality education. Recognising the importance of this initiative, Olivier continued to support it by contributing his own funds.

To expand the project’s reach, Olivier launched a GoFundMe campaign in 2022. Over time, a growing network of friends and supporters joined the cause, inspired by the shared vision. Despite this momentum, however, resources remained limited and all financial contributions were managed through Olivier’s personal accounts.

In 2026, this initiative evolved into a formal non-profit organisation. This milestone marked the beginning of a new chapter, enabling the provision of structured, transparent and sustainable support to the rural Rubanda district in western Uganda, and strengthening our commitment to supporting its people in the areas of education, sports and tourism.

How we ensure that your contribution delivers value

Kirinki acts as a supporting hub, mobilising the necessary funds and providing advice and support. In Uganda, the execution and management is carried out by Prosper and Hope Initiative Uganda in close collaboration with the local community. This approach ensures that all activities are locally driven and involve local people and businesses, directly contributing to the region's long-term development.

Trust is key. That is why we place such a strong emphasis on ensuring that your support and contributions deliver value to the people of Rubanda. Our principles are:

  • There must be a strategy for each focus area containing objectives and next steps.
  • Funding must be requested from Kirinki. The board will then decide whether to support the request.
  • Funds are only transferred when previous actions have been completed.
  • We request receipts and photos as proof of work carried out.
  • Hope Initiative Uganda sends regular updates to Kirinki.
